The Growth Journey of INFJ
'An exploration of the growth stages of INFJ personality type.'
The Growth Path of INFJ
Yesterday, I came across a post about the growth of INFJ, which was really insightful, especially the analysis of the three stages in personality evolution. See the original link at the bottom.
Stage One In early life, the personality traits of INFJ are completely dominated by the development of their Ni function. At the same time, although they are introverted personalities, they also show an important characteristic of the auxiliary function Fe - Fe can be used as an effective extroverted tool to help INFJ explore the external world. The Ni-Fe functions together dominate the mode and method of INFJ's 'making judgments' and 'expressing opinions'. INFJ is particularly good at reading and evaluating others, including assessing their hidden motives.
Stage Two Once the [dominant function Ni] is trained to a certain strength and dominance, INFJ's fourth function Se will begin to come into INFJ's sight and gradually play a more influential role. This can be confusing because in the function type ranking, the fourth function Se is not the next function to be developed immediately. The excessive influence of the fourth function Se also comes from its conflict with the dominant function Ni. As we have discussed elsewhere, the fourth function Se is the culprit behind unwise 'career choices' and 'relationship decisions'. Unfortunately, the influence of this function reaches its peak exactly in the second stage of INFJ, which is also a critical period when INFJ needs to make important decisions in career and relationships. T and S are the main growth topics faced by INFJ, that is, the third and fourth functions. For me personally, I have indeed experienced the对冲 stage between S and N. This is the beginning of breaking the INFJ system. N was my previous impression of others, and S is the real feeling generated after interacting with others. This reality breaks my N, and then I start to add rational thinking T. This cycle repeats.
Stage Three The third stage is a stage that many people may never reach or complete in their entire lives. It is characterized by attempting to understand and integrate the third function and the fourth function. By bringing these unconscious functions into the light of consciousness, we can better imagine our path to 'completeness'. To achieve this, we need to understand how these functions manifest in our personality and become more and more aware of our 'unconscious behavior patterns'. Once these unconscious behavior patterns appear, they can be guided by healthier thoughts and behaviors. Decisions and actions will become more and more wise and conscious, ultimately producing lasting satisfaction and completeness. For INFJ, personal growth in the third stage requires a deeper exploration of the nature of their third function Ti and fourth function Se and their challenging relationship.
At present, my understanding is that I start to become aware of my subconscious. Many habitual decisions are just the inertia of the subconscious. I am controlled by the subconscious. When the subconscious comes next time, I will feel this thinking from a third-person perspective and then use consciousness to correct some negative emotions of the subconscious and do what consciousness should do.
