Choosing to study abroad is largely due to preferring the teaching mode and style abroad. Having had the idea of going abroad since sophomore year, the author was attracted by UCL's design style. After realizing their preference for British architecture, especially UCL's futuristic projects, they set their goal.
In design, the author believes in putting people first, focusing on designs that care for the vulnerable. They are inspired by Bernard Tschumi and love his works. Their personal ideal is to maintain a kind attitude and influence the environment through design.
For a city-scale project, the author tackled the problem of urban adaptability through parametric design. With the help of a teacher, they created a system using multiple small components and a new transportation system. The process involved dealing with software challenges and finding a way to control the growth of the design.
In the preparation stage, the author's portfolio includes narrative architecture projects with an illustration style. Logic is crucial in a project. During the application stage, dealing with emotions and staying focused is important.
In daily life, besides working on projects, the author reads philosophy and architecture books and hangs out with friends. LAC was the first consulting place and the author is grateful for the help from teachers and friends. A good teammate is important in a collaborative project.
Overall, the journey is full of challenges and rewards.
