Know Yourself through MBTI
A personal journey of self-discovery through MBTI types, from INFP to INTP and the aspiration for more extroversion and judgment.
Title: Know Yourself - A Journey through MBTI
Introduction: People often say, 'Know thyself.' In March 2022, I embarked on a journey of self-discovery through understanding MBTI and Jung's eight psychological functions. This exploration has been both enlightening and transformative.
My MBTI Odyssey: I initially tested as an INFP. During this time, I was highly concerned about others' opinions, constantly worried about making mistakes and having a low sense of self-identity. Just like the INFP on the show, I would feel bad for a long time if I did something wrong.
As time passed and I started analyzing myself, I began to recognize my strengths and weaknesses. Gradually, I became more confident and started believing in myself. This led me to shift to INTP. Now, I prefer using logic to solve problems rather than being overly influenced by emotions.
The Characteristics of INTP: As an INTP, I find long periods of social interaction exhausting. I can stay at home for months without going out as long as I have enough food, internet, and don't need to take out the trash. I only engage in simple social interactions with familiar friends via WeChat. I also have certain social behaviors. I like to anticipate various situations in my mind before they happen and prepare responses. When unexpected situations occur and I haven't planned for them, I go into a sort of 'downtime' while my brain races to find a solution. Sometimes, I try to liven up the atmosphere if there are only introverts around, but I quickly run out of energy and need to recharge. I feel pressured around extroverts and tend to avoid them. I can't stand being called stupid and enjoy deep, logical conversations rather than pure emotional interactions. I also like observing others quietly.
The Appeal of Other Types: After watching a show, I was impressed by different types. The ENTJ seems like an unachievable personality for me due to my high introversion and perceiving tendencies. However, I wish to be more like INTJ - more organized and planned. I also admire the energy and positivity of ENTP and hope to be a bit more like them.
The Journey Continues: Although my shift from INFP to INTP feels like progress for me personally, I still seek to increase my extroversion and judging tendencies to become a more 'normal' social person. But if that's not possible, it's okay. I can always continue to embrace my laid-back attitude.
Conclusion: Understanding one's MBTI type is a truly healing experience. It helps us accept ourselves and grow. Whether we're INFP, INTP, or any other type, knowing ourselves is the first step to a fulfilling life.
