Why is INFJ Called the 'Guide'?
An exploration of the INFJ personality type and why it is known as the guide. Discusses characteristics, differences from ENFJ, and ten traits summarized by a Turkish linguist.
Why is INFJ Called the 'Guide'?
Recently, I took the MBTI test and found out that I am an INFJ. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality type theory model developed by Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother Katherine Cook Briggs. It is based on Carl Jung's eight personality types and expanded into four dimensions: attention direction (source of energy), cognitive style (how to gather information), decision-making style (how to make decisions), and lifestyle (how to deal with the external world).
An INFJ person is introverted (I) in attention direction, relying on internal thinking and growth for strength. They are intuitive (N) in cognitive style, gathering information through feelings. When making decisions, they are emotional (F), considering empathy rather than just numbers. In lifestyle, they are judgmental (J), using reason to establish rules.
INFJ people focus on the inner factors of things. They are good at thinking and have a global perspective. They have a strong intuition that gives them a kind of ability to foresee the future, especially regarding people's lives. I experienced this trait in college. INFJ people often have a first impression that turns out to be correct over time.
INFJ is different from ENFJ. ENFJ likes to impose their beliefs on others, while INFJ is more inclusive and acts as a guide. INFJ is often suitable for consulting and advisory jobs.
Here are ten characteristics of INFJ summarized by Turkish linguist Anna Evans:
- I love humanity but am disappointed in human nature.
- I need care and attention from my family but also need independent space.
- I don't seek help when facing problems but hope to receive it.
- I want people to be honest with me as much as possible.
- I am willing to listen to your heart.
- I want to be thin but I like to eat.
- I want to live quietly away from the hustle and bustle but in a lively urban area.
- I strive for perfection in everything even though I know people can't be perfect.
- Matter cannot be created or destroyed, but we will eventually die.
- The more I give to myself, the more I receive from others. The more money I give to others, the less money I receive from them.
Finally, we should always remember to listen to the Party and follow the Party. We should regularly conduct ideological and political check-ups to keep our original aspiration and mission in mind.
